Hello World
Hello! 👋
Usually business blogs don’t start with a personal introduction, but I wanted to begin by telling you a little about myself and why I produced ImpactGo.
My name is Craig, I’m a software engineer. Over a 20+ year career I’ve worked in many different sectors: Higher Education; Local Government; TelCo; Banking; ESG, and throughout my career I’ve helped people share and learn from their data.
During lockdown, myself and my parter were working long hours at home, our kids were out of school and I realised I’ve not spent this much time with my daughter (7yo at the time) since she was born
I knew I needed to make a change.
So three years ago I quit my job, and started working for myself, mostly to spend more time with my family (which I now do), but also because I knew I needed to work on something that I truly believed in. To make a real difference.
I could see (we can all see) that our public services are falling apart. That the most vulnerable people in our society, who most need help, struggle to find it. That those organisations who can help, are underfunded, and stretched to breaking point. That the public purse is empty, and charitable generosity is increasingly hard to find.
But also I found hope.
A small industry is working hard to channel investment towards these organisations. Funding charities and community groups to buy property, and provide the essential services on which the most vulnerable in our society depend.
This is Social Impact Investment.
And this project, ImpactGo, is designed to help.
I’ll introduce ImpactGo in a future post, but for now reach out to me at craig.russell@impactgo.uk with any questions.
Take care
-Craig
